Cassandra
Steen

Steen was born in 1980 and grew up with her grandparents at a US army base near to Stuttgart. As a child she hummed along to the music of Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston and took lessons from the age of 14.

She made her debut in the music industry at 17 as a duet partner on the German hip-hop band Freundeskreis’ album “Quadratur des Kreises”. She then went on to co-found the band project Glashaus with German hip-hop pioneer Moses Pelham and media composer Martin Haas. Their first single “Wenn das Liebe ist” became a mega hit.

After a successful career including 10 singles, 3 albums and innumerable shows and tours, the three musicians parted ways to the benefit of Steen’s solo journey.

Her first album, titled “Darum leben wir”, consisted of original songs and was published by Universal Music in 2009. The album debuted at number 6 in Germany’s album and singles charts. Her second single “Stadt” reached 2nd place and stayed there for weeks. It gained platinum status and was the biggest German-language radio-hit of 2009.

Since then Cassandra Steen has lent her unique voice to many bands and musical projects. She has worked with Bushido, Yvonne Catterfield and US superstar Ne-Yo.

Her third album “Mir so nah”, offering timeless urban blues and crystal-clear vocals, was met with great excitement.

Most recently she lent her smooth tones to the protagonist »Tiana« in the German version of the Disney film »The Princess and the Frog«. She also sang “Never Knew I Needed” with Ne-Yo for the same film. The track placed in the top 100 in Germany and at place 15 in Portugal.
