VIENNA – CITY OF (FILM) MUSIC

Vienna has music in its DNA, which is why it enjoys a well-deserved reputation as the world capital of music. Classical composers have left their mark on the city, as have contemporary and pioneering projects, a growing number of them once again in film music. For over ten years now, the »Hollywood in Vienna« festival has not only provided networking opportunities for the film music industry, but also put the city in the international spotlight: hundreds of thousands of music fans turn their attention towards the Austrian capital when the gala concert is screened on television.

Vienna’s growing status as a meeting place for the international music scene is down to various factors, including the city’s excellent facilities: the Vienna Symphonic Library’s Synchron Stage Vienna in the former Rosenhügel film studios is one of the world’s most innovative studios for recording film music. Vienna Music Angels is the city’s first preparation service for movie score recordings, while the Max Steiner Orchestra, founded in 2012, has built a strong reputation for creating high-quality recordings for film and media projects.

And now you too can draw inspiration from the »Rhythm of Vienna« and discover the city and all of its classical and contemporary music attractions at first hand. Over 15,000 concerts take place here every year, and around 10,000 music enthusiasts listen to live classical music every evening. On behalf of the Vienna Tourist Board, I would like to extend a warm welcome to Vienna to all music makers, their fans, and all those seeking to enjoy excellent music.
