Vienna in Hollywood

Several Viennese composers emigrated to Los Angeles in the 1920ies and 1930ies, where they largely contributed to the development of the »Hollywood Sound«. Max Steiner and Erich Wolfgang Korngold may be seen as the fathers of orchestral film music. Modern music on the other hand was established in the horror genre by Hans Julius Salter.
