Kristin
Lewis
Born in Little Rock/Arkansas the soprano Kristin Lewis received her musical education at the University of Central Arkansas and at the University of Tennessee.
With her lyrico-spinto soprano Kristin Lewis is predestined for the great heroines of the Italian opera repertoire. She is a regular guest at many of the most renowned opera houses worldwide, performing Verdi´s Elisabetta (Don Carlos), Amelia (Un Ballo in Maschera) or Puccini´s Mimì (La Bohème). She performed one of her most important roles – Verdi´s Aida – at the Teatro alla Scala, at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, at the State Opera Berlin and at the Vienna State Opera. In 2014 she was also seen in this role under the direction of Robert Dornhelm at the Opera Festival in St. Margarethen. Furthermore, Ms. Lewis has performed in such prestigious houses as the Carnegie Hall, New York, the Bayerische Staatsoper, Munich, the Teatro La Fenice in Venice as well as the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. She had the privilege to perform under the baton of such famous conductors as Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Philipp Jordan, Donald Runnicles and Daniele Gatti.
Alongside her career Kristin Lewis is very active in humanitarian work. She is an Ambassador for the Red Cross in Austria and in 2014 she established the Kristin Lewis Foundation, which is dedicated to support young and talented musicians.
The 2016-17 opera
season highlight will be Ms. Lewis's return to the Teatro alla Scala in the
role of Bess in Gershwin's Porgy & Bess. Further anticipated performances will be her debut of Strauss´ Four last
Songs in concert with Maestro Zubin Mehta in Athens as well as several
performances as Aida and Amelia at the Vienna State Opera.
