Trio
Grotesque

Trio Grotesque is a Russian music group founded in 2010 in Jaroslavl, consisting of the musicians Anna Abramova (cimbalon), Evgeny Baulin (contrabass balalaika) and Andrei Surta (bayan).

In April 2016, Trio Grotesque has been awarded with the Grand Prix of the international festival competition for gifted music groups, Planet of Talents, that took place in Kaliningrad, Russia. In 2010 the Trio was already to be seen on tour through the Austrian cities of Vienna, Graz, Baden and Salzburg. Furthermore, the musicians are performing at big events like the international festival for street art Ferrara Buskers in Italy as well as at international conventions. Last February the musicians took part in the opening of the Russian avant-garde exhibition From Chagall to Malevich in Vienna´s Albertina.

The Trio´s trademark is a wide range of concert program compilations as well as unconventional adaptations, which present their rare to be seen instruments to a western audience. Trio Grotesque’s way of playing is endowed with remarkable gifts of expression, precision, yet very artistic and emotional and with an impeccable blend of sound. The group has a large repertoire from classical to contemporary genres that covers a wide range of styles: from baroque to romanticism, from pop to world music, from film music of different kinds to Russian hits and folk compositions – the trio will win you over with its first class technique and sensitive interpretations, which are already documented on 3 CD-recordings, and with its spirited expression on stage.
