The Hollywood expert, who was born in the USA, has hosted more than 20 different TV shows and hundreds of international cinema premieres across Europe and the USA. He also interviewed around 1,000 actors and directors, including Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, Will Smith, George Clooney and Steven Spielberg. Gätjen’s career started at MTV in London, where he was first offered a position as a TV editor. He then worked as a presenter and also became the program’s chief editor. Gätjen hosted the German boulevard magazine taff and later went on to present the Disney-Filmparade and Blockbuster TV for the German TV station ProSieben.

Since 2000, Gätjen has annually been reporting and interviewing Hollywood Stars live from the Oscars. For his interviews, Gätjen skillfully switches between integrity and wit, getting even the biggest names to smile and earning him the nickname Our man for Hollywood. Since 2011 he has been part of several shows of the German TV icon Stefan Raab. In his TV programs Steven liebt Kino at ProSieben and Mehr als Kino for CinemaxX, he presented stories and anecdotes from the world of film.

In 2016, Gätjen moved from ProSieben to ZDF to present primetime shows such as Die versteckte Kamera, I can do that, Deutschlands Superhirn, Die Goldene Kamera and his own TV-show Gätjens Großes Kino. Furthermore, he presents Disney Magic Moments (Disney Channel) and the movie blog Fred Carpet (MBTV). Together with his brother he published the children’s book Die unglaublichen Abenteuer von Wilbur McCloud (The amazing Adventures of Wilbur McCloud). After hosting the German tour »The Sound of Hollywood« in 2014, he is presenting »Hollywood in Vienna« for the third time, tonight.
