Badelt

Klaus Badelt began his career in Germany with scoring multiple movies and commercials. In 1998, Badelt moved to Los Angeles and segued into composing for blockbuster, American-made films. Since then, Badelt has worked with some of the greatest filmmakers of our time, received international awards and distinction, scored more than 40 major motion pictures, and set the tone for both critically acclaimed films and top-grossing blockbusters.
At the beginning of his Hollywood career, Badelt collaborated with Hans Zimmer as well as other Media Ventures composers, such as Harry Gregson-Williams and John Powell, for various film projects.

Badelt contributed music to the Academy Award winning soundtrack for The Thin Red Line and
The Prince of Egypt and worked together with famous directors, such as Ridley Scott, Tony Scott, Terrence Mallick, John Woo, Kathryn Bigelow, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Tom Cruise, Sean Penn, Gore Verbinski and Steven Spielberg. Furthermore, Badelt was co-producer of the Hollywood box office hit Gladiator by director Ridley Scott and also wrote parts of the score together with singer and composer Lisa Gerrard.

In 2000, Badelt contributed compositions to the three most successful movies of the year: Gladiator, Mission: Impossible II and X-Men. He was also involved in various other successful film projects like The pledge or the 2001 blockbusters Hannibal and Pearl Harbor. His large-scale score to Pirates of the Caribbean –
The Curse of the Black Pearl
defined the franchise and brought him worldwide attention.
Badelt later founded his own company »Theme Park Studios«, and has shown the many hats he wears as a composer, arranger, performer, and producer of monumental live stage shows, pop-music recordings and even the coveted 2008 Beijing Olympics Closing Ceremonies.

Badelt also works on the forefront in China. He was invited by famed producer Lawrence Ho to create the score for the first-of-its-kind film environment called The Bubble in Macau, which opened in 2009 – and the ancient capital Xi‘an commissioned him to write the opera »Terracotta Warriors« to premiere in 2010. Further praised soundtracks include the Chinese fantasy film The Promise and the Dreamworks remake The Time Machine, for which he was awarded the »Discovery of the Year Award« at the World Soundtrack Awards 2003 as well as the film version of the French icon Le Petite Nicholas and the romantic comedy L’Arnacoeur (Heartbreaker) starring Vanessa Paradis.
