Kolonovits
International stars appreciate Kolonovits as arranger, composer and music producer, especially his brilliancy in combining rock, pop and classical elements to a harmonious entity. Placido Domingo, José Carreras, Luciano Pavarotti, Kiri Te Kanawa, Elina Garanca, Sarah Brightman, Helmut Lotti, Michael Bolton, Boney M., José Feliciano, Patricia Kaas, and the Scorpions, are only a few names on a long list of well-known artists he has worked with. Numerous orchestra productions (with the Vienna Symphonic Orchestra, Berlin Philharmonics, Moscow State Symphonic Orchestra, ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna, Budapest Philharmonics, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Bruckner Orchestra Linz, amongst others) led to international recognition. Also his cross-over projects with the Vienna Symphonic Orchestra (V.S.O.P.) and Berlin Philharmonics (Moment of Glory, Berlin Philharmonics & Scorpions) led to big success. Furthermore, Kolonovits orchestrated the legendary Christmas in Vienna-concerts with Placido Domingo, José Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti, which still enjoy worldwide popularity, and wrote many compositions for the Vienna Volksoper, Burgtheater and Raimundtheater, where he also conducted his works.
He scored TV and movie productions like Geliebte Gegner, Diebinnen, **Tödliche Liebe, Tafelspitz, Jenseits der Brandung and Rochade for directors such as Peter Patzak, Xaver Schwarzenberger, Peter Hajek, Peter Weck and Philipp Stölzl. In 2005, he wrote the music for Hugo Portisch’s mutiple award-winning documentary The Second Republic—An Incredible Story. In 2008, he composed the music to the movie Nordwand by director Philipp Stölzl. The soundtrack was also released on CD and published worldwide.
In 2000, Kolonovits conducted the world wide broadcasted opening concert of the world exposition in Hannover and produced, arranged and conducted José Carreras’ CDs Around the World and Energia. In 2003 he composed for the Klangwolke Linz. 2004 he orchestrated the internationally awarded musical Romeo & Julia, performed at the Raimund Theater in Vienna.
In 2009, Christian Kolonovits wrote songs for the new Scorpions album Sting in the Tail, reached top five in the U.S. charts, and composed the childrens’ opera Antonia und der Reißteufel for the Volksoper in Vienna, which premiered with big success in December, 2009.
