David
Whitley

David Bruce Whitley was born in Washington D.C. and currently lives in Stuttgart. He began singing at the age of four in his local church. David attended the “Duke Ellington School of the Performing Arts” for high school and moved to New York City upon graduating at the “Manhattan School of Music”. He then continued with his studies at the “Juilliard School of Music”. 

David toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe as a soloist with the Boys Choir of Harlem. He also toured with the New York City Opera National Company in their production of the “Barber of Seville”.

 Whitley has performed on stages across the globe, from Broadway to Stuttgart, where he assumed the role of John in “Miss Saigon”. He also taught vocal lessons at the New York City Dance School in Stuttgart for the Musical Project.

Whitley has worked with many artists including Usher, Harry Connick Jr., Boys Choir of Harlem, DaNaCe, Joy Denalane, Thomilla, Die Fantastische Vier, Freundeskreis and many more as well as performing with various bands all over the world: Fresh and Cool, The Magic Platters, The Freedom Family and The Gospel Consort, to name a few.

He is a good friend of Cassandra Steen, our soloist tonight, whom he mentored. 

Since 2014 Whitley has been a guest member of the Mannheimer Nationaltheater in their production BLUES BROTHERS, playing the role of the gospel priest.
