The Polar Express – Believe
Director Robert Zemeckis teamed up with his star from Forrest Gump, namely Tom Hanks, again in 2004 to film the Christmas fairytale The Polar Express based on the book by Chris Van Allsburg. Using the motion capturing technique, Hanks was able to play nearly all leading parts in person – from the central part of the boy to Father Christmas. And by the way, Hanks got to sing a little in »The Polar Express« too. The message of the film is that the wonder of Christmas can become reality if you are willing to believe in it. This is why the main song, written by Alan Silvestri and songwriter Glen Ballard, is called »Believe«. The piece won a Grammy and was nominated as the best original song at the 62nd Oscars - a modern Christmas carol about the power of dreams and the force of wishes. In the film the song is interpreted by US star musician Josh Groban. This evening Nadine Beiler, who instantly managed to persuade Silvestri with her vocal qualities, was standing behind the microphone.
